The Maruti Suzuki new Micro SUV Y43 will compete with the likes of Tata Punch and Hyundai Exeter. It will be launched in India in 2026-2027 as an internally codenamed Y43 micro SUV car.
The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), is currently riding the SUV wave. With the latest launches like the Grand Vitara, Franks, New Brezza, and Jimny in the last two years, the home-grown carmaker has a good share of the overall SUV market.

To continue its growth trajectory, multiple new SUVs are in the pipeline and are expected to be launched in the coming years. These upcoming SUVs will open the gates to new segments for Maruti Suzuki, thereby gaining a larger market share. For reference, the company has a 20% market share in the utility vehicle segment. Among the upcoming sports utility vehicles, a micro-SUV is currently under development to rival the likes of the Tata Punch and the Hyundai Exeter.

According to the latest media reports, the micro-SUV will be launched in the Indian market in the years 2026–2027. The new micro-SUV will be positioned below the Brezza in the brand’s lineup.
While high-riding hatchbacks like the S-Presso and Ignis currently do duty in the micro-SUV segment, a proper SUV with a butch stance is needed, just like its rivals in the segment.

While details about Maruti’s new project are currently scarce, we expect it to be less than 4 meters long. High ground clearance, a commanding diving position, and a proper SUVish stance are some of the main points the Japanese carmaker is targeting with its upcoming micro-SUV.
Talking about the design, we can expect the same as the company’s latest crop of SUVs, including the Grand Vitara and Franks. Inside the cabin, part-sharing is the name of the game,
with features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, six airbags, a head-up display, automatic HVAC, and push-button start/stop, among others.

Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up to launch its first electric car, the eVX, and the Grand Vitara-based Y17 7-seater SUV.
