The Maruti Suzuki Fronx made history by clinching the #1 spot for the first time, selling 21,461 units—a massive 51% surge from February 2024. It’s blend of SUV styling, Maruti’s reliability, and competitive pricing resonated with buyers, dethroning traditional favorites.
Why It’s Trending:
The WagonR retained its stronghold in the hatchback segment with 19,879 units sold, marking a steady 2% YoY growth. Its practicality, low maintenance, and recent tech upgrades keep it relevant in urban markets.
Key Trend:

Hyundai Creta solidified its dominance in midsize SUVs with 16,317 units sold (+7% YoY). Its refreshed design, ADAS features, and hybrid variants continue to attract premium buyers.
Competitive Edge:

The Swift roared back with 16,269 units sold, up 24% YoY. A facelift with a new hybrid engine and sportier aesthetics revived its appeal among young buyers.
The Baleno faced a 12% slump, dropping to 15,480 units. Increased competition from Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20, coupled with minimal updates, contributed to its decline.
The Brezza saw a marginal 2% drop (15,392 units), likely due to buyers shifting toward the Fronx. However, its rugged design and sunroof variants keep it competitive.
Tata Nexon sold 15,349 units (+7%), leveraging its 5-star safety rating and electric variant (Nexon EV) to outperform rivals like Mahindra XUV300.
The Ertiga remained India’s favorite MPV despite a 4% dip (14,868 units). Families prioritize its space and fuel efficiency, though rivals like XL6 are closing in.
The Dzire fell to 14,694 units (-7%), as SUV-mania impacts sedan demand. However, it still leads its segment due to affordability and low ownership costs.
The Punch faced the steepest drop at 14,559 units (-21%). Overcrowding in the micro-SUV segment and supply issues for its CNG variant may explain the slump.
